Ziarul Financiar 17.04.2003

Rewe Romania, branch of the German trade group, opens a discounter in Buzau today, following a 5 million euro investment. This the fourth discounter the German group has opened in Romania thus far, after those in Bucharest, Sibiu and Targoviste. "We see that the Romanian consumer's income is largely spent on foodstuffs and consumer goods. Under the circumstances, our concept (the discounter) will remain topical in the long run," Rainer Exel, Rewe Romania general manager said. The German group opened its first store in Bucharest in the first half of 2001 and sold some 12 million euros' worth in about eight months. ZF
