Nine out of ten truck fleets belong to Romanians

Ziarul Financiar 22.08.2008
Nine out of the top ten freight carriers that own the largest fleets on the domestic market are Romanian companies established by local entrepreneurs. All together, the top ten transporters own a fleet of 7,000 trucks. The integration into the EU and foreign investments have caused a boom of transport fleets, where Romanian-held companies prevail. Trucks with such logos as Edy Spedition, European Drinks, Arabesque or Dumagas are seen everywhere on Romanian roads, and are now expanding abroad. As a result, local carriers are now battling European giants, with advantages being lower salaries and a newer fleet, however, they are also faced with the migration of workforce abroad.
