Continental recruits in Romania, after operating redundancies in France and Germany

German tyre manufacturer Continental, which announced the closure of two plants in France and Germany in mid-March, prompting a series of protests by French workers, is recruiting staff for the Timisoara-based plant, according to the website of French radio station France Info. The France Info story cites a company ad in a local Romanian newspaper, according to which Continental is hiring workers for production, engineers for the technical department, heads of teams and workers involved in maintenance of metallic components. The ad comes in the wake of Continental closing two plants in Europe, one in Clairoix, France, which employs 1,120 staff, and one in Hanover, Northern Germany (780 employees), with reporters considering it production relocation.
