Gheorghe Hagi, former captain of the Romanian national football team and probably the best Romanian player of all time, has purchased a seven-hectare plot nearby the city of Constanta, where he will put together a football academy, which will consist of nine football pitches and several buildings. They will include accommodation space, a gym, a cafeteria and other facilities, following an investment estimated at 10 million euros. Works on the football pitches will start this year, while construction of the buildings is scheduled for next year. The main source of income for such a facility is the sale of players to football clubs, with some of the young footballers to pay a tax for the courses at the academy. The project will be developed by Hagi with the aid of several sponsors, and the Academy will be able to train 200 young people simultaneously.
