Dacia could sell 150,000 cars in Germany

Ziarul Financiar 07.04.2009
If the German government decides to extend the vehicle scrappage scheme until the end of the year, this could generate sales of up to 150,000 units for Dacia, if the Romanian manufacturer keeps its current rate of 3,500 cars delivered per week. The company's production could grow to 280,000 vehicles, 16% more than in 2008, which saw around 84,000 units sold in Romania. Originally, the scrappage scheme in Germany was set to run until August, and included 600,000 cars. The German government's decision on whether to extend the scheme or not will be announced within the next few weeks, according to the German press, with the volume of cars to potentially rise from 600,000 to 870,000 units. At present, 3,500 Dacia cars are exported per week to the German market, which amounts to orders for 40,000 Dacia cars in the first quarter of this year.
