The new SUV will be Dacia's lifeline next year

Dacia, the second-largest privately-held Romanian company in terms of 2008 turnover, could launch the new SUV manufactured in Mioveni at the Geneva Motor Show in February next year, the latest model to be built based on Logan's technical platform. "The SUV will be our lifeline next year. One cannot simply ask for good market conditions," said Constantin Stroe, Dacia's vice-president. Dacia representatives described the SUV to be launched in February as a lifeline in the context where auto sales will continue to stabilise and orders for Logan models on the Western markets will go down. "When government schemes to support auto markets are concluded, there will be consequences. A large part of our operations are accounted for by orders from Germany. However, I think sales will stabilise because our range is well integrated in the market," said Francois Fourmont, general manager of Dacia.
