Grup Servicii Petroliere (GDP), a company within the Upetrom
petroleum group, controlled by businessman Gabriel Comanescu, has
earned a 269 million-dollar (around 178 million-euro) contract to
build a 150 km-section of the 164 km-long Olympia section, for
Gazprom. GSP will put in motion the bulk of its offshore capacities
and the company's fleet. Other participants in the tender included
companies in Italy and the United Arab Emirates, according to GSP
representatives. The contract was signed on November 19th with
Stroygazmontazh, the project's general contractor as a result of an
auction. "Dzhubga-Lazrevskoe-Sochi will be built of two parts - an
off-shore section and an on-shore one. On the coast between Dzhubga
and Lermontovo, the on-shore section will descend into the Black
Sea where assembly works will connect the sea section to the gas
distribution stations being simultaneously built in Dzhubga,
Novomikhailovka, Tuapse, and Kudepsta.
The pipe will return to land
in Sochi, in the area of the Veseloe village," explained Radu
Petrescu, communication manager of Grup Servicii Petroliere.
