The anti-stress product market in the first nine months of
this year advanced by 16.4%, to 1.33m euros, while in terms of
units the increase was almost similar, of around 15.2%, to 0.6
million units, according to Cegedim Romania market research firm.
The anti-stress product segment posted a better performance
compared with the total market, which in the first nine months of
this year fell by 3%, in euros, to 1.4bn euros. "I've recently
witnessed a strong increase in both demand and supply of natural
anti-stress products, most likely owing to the ever greater
openness of patients to natural products, to a better education in
this regard," said Roxana Petrovici, a specialist pharmacist with
Fiterman Pharma producer, a major player on this market.
She
believes an uncovered segment on this market is that of anti-stress
products for children, "a segment hard to tap into because of the
limited range of natural ingredients that can be administered to
small age groups". The main products on this market, which market
research company Cegedim calls the market of herbal hypnotics and
sedatives include Sedatif PC (Boiron), Persen (Novartis), Bien
Dormir (Fiterman Pharma), Calmogen (GSK), Vagostabyl (Leurquin
Mediolanum) or Relaxirem (Remedia).
