What is happening with Tarom's management?
Things at the helm of the largest airline carrier on the
Romanian market, Tarom, are uncertain, with the change of the air
operator's general manager being discussed for over a month,
without an official decision being made.
A few weeks ago, UDMR (Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in
Romania), the party entitled to appoint the management of the
state-held airline Tarom, chose Gombos Csaba for general manager,
who used to run the operations of electrical wiring manufacturer
Romcab Targu-Mures.
However, Transport Minister Radu Berceanu has not approved his
appointment yet.
These plans to change the management of the air company come at a
time when the business of the airline is affected by the decline in
traffic and in the wake of a disastrous 2009 for Tarom, with losses
put at 21 million euros and 260 million-euro revenues, under the
term of Ruxandra Brutaru, 29.
"Any change at the helm of companies within the Ministry of
Transport and Infrastructure will be announced officially. At
present, Ruxandra Brutaru is general manager of Tarom," Radu
Berceanu, Transport Minister, told ZF.
