The most eagerly awaited Dacia model, the first SUV in the history of the local carmaker, for which dealers have put together waiting lists like those for a Ferrari or Rolls Royce was launched on the local market yesterday. Duster's launch marks the third consecutive increase in production for the Mioveni plant, to 1,350 cars a day, ten more than at the end of last year.

"Dacia's manufacturing pace is set by demand. For instance, in March, we will work three Saturdays because of Duster's launch. The pace went up to 1,350 cars per day, " said Jerome Olive, general manager of Automobile Dacia.

The number of orders taken by Dacia's dealers thus far, three weeks from the moment price information was released, is still a secret the company officials keep, with the data to be released after April 20th, once the first cars are delivered to their buyers.
