The Nadlac-Constanta motorway (750 km), could be ready by the end of 2013, with the exception of the Pitesti-Sibiu section (116.6 km), considering that by the end of the year tenders will be organised for all sections between Nadlac and Sibiu, say the representatives of the Transport Ministry.

The Nadlac-Constanta motorway is part of the Pan-European Corridor IV, the leading route connecting the Black Sea with the European Union, but which, although it constantly features in the Government's plans, has been neglected by the authorities for over twenty years. So far only 264 km - the Pitesti-Cernavoda motorway - have been finalised out of the 750 km allocated for Romania.

"Tenders will be organised for all sections of Corridor IV, between Nadlac and Sibiu by the end of the year, with construction set for completion in two and a half years to three years' time. The Nadlac-Sibiu section will most likely be ready by 2013 if constructors do their job properly, if there is money for expropriations and money from the budget to co-finance these sections," says Adrian Ionescu, director of the motorway division of the National Motorways and National Roads Company in Romania (CNADNR).
