Cafea Fortuna posts 22m euros in sales, up 20%
Cafea Fortuna, the only company with Romanian capital in the
ranking of the top five players on the coffee market, expects a
sales rise this year, after recording a 20% turnover rise in RON in
2009 against the previous period. The company posted a 92.5
million-RON (22 million-euro) turnover last year, and operates
exclusively on the ground coffee segment. In 2010, the company
will, however, rely on a new segment, instant coffee, which it will
soon enter with its brand Fortuna Rendez-Vous.
Cafea Fortuna is a medium-priced product, below the segment
targeted by Kraft Foods and Strauss Group, companies that currently
dominate the coffee market with an over 60% market share in terms
of value.
"We expect to post at least a similar turnover to the 2009 one this
year. The growth we recorded in 2009 had to do both with the
increase in the volumes sold and with the rise in the price of
coffee," specified Dan Lazarescu, general manager of Cafea Fortuna.
He added that the company had posted a 12.3 million-RON (2.9
million-euro) profit last year, an 80% rise on the figure reported
to the Finance Ministry in 2008.
