Logan, as difficult to design as a Ferrari

Philippe Prevel, the man in charge or Renault Technologie Roumanie, the second research centre of the French group after the one in Paris, says that designing a Logan model is as difficult as designing a Ferrari. Each model has to observe a set of cost, performance and quality criteria.

"A Logan is as difficult to design as a Ferrari. It isn't any different. Had it been, Logan would have had much more competitors. If we take a look at the market, there aren't that many competitors for Logan for the time being. As for Ferrari's bracket, we have McLaren and Lamborghini along with other brands for instance. There are many people who know how to design such cars," said Philippe Prevel, Renault Technologie Roumanie says.

Whereas a Ferrari or Lamborghini's price starts from approximately 200,000 euros, while a Logan is designed to start from 5,000 euros, both of them have to meet certain quality and safety standards.

Dacia is the only "volume" brand on the low-cost segment in Europe, with many carmakers such as Toyota and Skoda announcing a few years ago that they were planning to launch competitors for Logan, which have yet to show up on the market.
