No hurry for Fiscal Board nominations

Ten days after Parliament passed the law on fiscal responsibility, the institutions that are supposed to appoint representatives to the so-called Fiscal Board, which oversees the consistency of the Government's economic policy, are in no hurry to make any nominations.

The law was approved on March 30- the Government asked that it be discussed under the emergency procedure - and has been sent to the Presidential office for promulgation, but the head of state had not signed the promulgation decree by yesterday evening.

The five members of the Fiscal Board must be nominated by the National Bank of Romania, the Romanian Banks Association, the Romanian Banking Institute, the Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) and the Romanian Academy.

ASE is the only institution to have made a proposal - Tatiana Mosteanu, dean of the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banks and Stock Exchanges.
