With the launch of the SUV Duster, the Dacia plant in Mioveni is at its sixth model and has reached full capacity.

Jacques Chauvet, chairman of the Board of Automobile Dacia and head of Renault for the Euromed region (Eastern Europe, excluding Russia, Turkey, and North Africa) believes the impact of the SUV Duster launch by Dacia will be similar to that of the Logan in 2004, with this being the first low-cost SUV on the European market.

Duster has seen the Mioveni plant reach full capacity - six models assembled in parallel, with the future models to be manufactured in the plant in Tangier, Morocco, as of 2012.

"In 2009 the Dacia plant was the largest in the Renault group. It cannot grow any more complex. There are very few plants that assemble six models. There will be new-generation cars manufactured in Romania, but they will replace the current ones," Jacques Chauvet said. He previously told ZF in an interview that Renault intended to build a new plant for Dacia in Morocco, where two new Dacia models would be manufactured.
