Romanian users can pay in RON, starting yesterday, to buy Nokia mobile phone applications downloaded from the Ovi Store applications store of the Finnish giant, the world's biggest mobile phone vendor. The company hopes to take advantage of its leading position on the Romanian mobile phone market. Ovi Store, launched in mid-2009 globally and at the start of 2010 in Romania, offers 9,500 applications for 135 Nokia phone models. "Romanians are thus joining the 90% of Nokia mobile phone users who can benefit from Ovi Store content in their native language and the 80% of users who can buy from Ovi Store in their national currency", announced Nokia representatives. Ovi Store applications target the consumer market, stated Razvan Petrescu, country manager with Nokia Romania, adding this is the market of the future considering it has not been exploited to the full globally. Through Ovi Store, users can also download and acquire domestic applications. Nokia said it would focus on collaboration with Romanian developers of mobile phone applications.
