Tarom state-owned airline, the biggest operator on the market, is likely to transport more than 85,000 Romanian tourists abroad through some charter flights this year. The company expects revenues put at 12m euros from charter flights this year, having contracts sealed with travel agencies, as well as with other companies on the market. "For the summer of this year, Tarom estimates it will operate a number of around 600 charter flights to foreign destinations," said the representatives of Tarom, which last year derived estimated revenues worth 260m euros and registered losses put at around 21m euros. Tarom saw traffic decline last year amid the economic downturn, but in the first quarter of this year the airline transported 26% more passengers compared with a year ago, that is 415,000 persons. For this year, the air carrier expects 48% higher total revenues, to 1.65bn RON (402m euros). The weight of charter flights in Tarom's turnover, taking into account 2010 projected revenues, will reach 3%, from around 5% in previous years.
