Architect Radu Teaca: No more quality architecture in Bucharest

Bucharest currently lacks high-quality architecture, this is the first impression of professor Radu Teaca, head of Artline architecture office. For him, the biggest problem with new buildings is land overexploitation and location, which does not take into account the neighbouring areas, so that no architectural discourse is being created any longer, reads Business Construct monthly in its 27th of May edition. Teaca sees the benefits of the financial crisis in the slower pace of construction in Bucharest, but we still have to wait for high-quality architecture. Teaca seems to disagree with what has happened with Bucharest in terms of the city's development, and especially with the architectural appearance of the new buildings. The biggest problem in his opinion is the way authorities have allowed the chaotic development and the overexploitation of plots of land in downtown Bucharest through too massive buildings.
