The A&D Pharma Group, the biggest player on the Romanian pharmaceutical market, with half a billion euros in turnover, expects to open "at least four clinics" under the Anima brand in Bucharest by the end of the year, with a first clinic already operational in the Piata Victoriei area of Bucharest.

"The Anima Victoriei project provides for 100 doctors and we are very close to reaching this number. Bucharest is our focus for now, but we will in the future assess development opportunities in other Romanian cities. Our plan over the next two years is for A&D Pharma to become one of the leading players on this market," said Robert Popescu, CEO of A&D Pharma.

At the beginning of this year A&D Pharma announced it had set up a new division of private medical services, Anima Specialty Medical Services, which would work both with individual patients and with companies.

The clinic in Piata Victoriei covers 600 square metres and includes 15 specialised offices. The company has not revealed the value of investments, but according to ZF estimates, the necessary amount for one such clinic is less than 1 million euros, with the company's clinic expansion project likely to amount to several million euros.
