Five investment managers decide on behalf of over 140,000 investors where and how to invest their over one billion-euro disposable income. While in the West money managers are the most influential voices on the financial markets, in Romania they are not very visible because of the population's lack of financial education and low incomes.
Nicolae Albu, Bogdan Bilaus, Dan Nicu, Gabriel Goia, and Dan Popovici run asset investment departments within the five largest asset management companies on the Romanian market - Erste AM, Raiffeisen AM, BRD AM, BT AM, and OTP AM.
The five decide based on a thorough analysis what shares are liquid enough and have the potential to be included in the portfolio of an equity fund, what securities fetch a higher profit than a bank deposit, and negotiate higher interests on deposits with banks. They are also responsible for the yield of open-ended and closed-ended investment funds.
