Orange, leader of the Romanian telecom market, in the second quarter generated revenues worth 247m euros, down 7.49% from a year ago, amid the difficult economic conditions, in line with data included in the financial report of France Telecom, the company's majority stakeholder. The number of clients reached 10.47 million, up 1.13% from late June, 2009. The company does not provide details about the number of subscribers and prepay card users. This is the sixth straight quarter of falling revenues for Orange. Thierry Millet, the company's general manager, says though that except the Q2 correction in the number of prepay card users, the level of the company's receipts gives signs of improvement. "Following the tendency of the first part of the year, the level of revenues further stabilised and improved each month. In line with our estimates, the company's market share in terms of value expanded owing to the trend of ARPU (average income per user) and the base of subscribers. While the prepay client base narrowed amid worsening economic conditions, we estimate the market share in terms of value is still stable," stated Thierry Millet.
