Dacia and Ford make over 1.8 billion euros' worth of cars
Car manufacturing on the Romanian market rose by over 30% to almost 183,000 units in the first half of this year compared with the similar period of 2009, according to statistics of the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA).
The increase comes amid a stagnating European market, with many
manufacturers revising their production target for this year
downwards. Carmakers operating on the Romanian market are Dacia at
Mioveni (Arge[ county) and Ford in Craiova. At an average price of
10,000 euros per car, the production of the two companies is
estimated to be worth 1.8 billion euros.
Taking into account the value of exports, the rise exceeds 30%
considering that Dacia started production of the Duster SUV in
March, which costs an average 14,000 euros, according to ZF
calculations, based on the fact that most clients opt for the top
four-wheel drive, while the average price of the other Dacia models
ranges from 8 to 10,000 euros.
