Călăraşi-based EuroAvi group of farmers, processing over 20,000 tonnes of chicken annually, has come to export, over a year, 30% of production to countries such as Bulgaria, Germany, the Netherlands, China or Thailand, and distribute products under the "Pui de Bărăgan" ("Bărăgan Chicken") brand to food discounters and convenience stores in South-Eastern Romania.

The group in Călăraşi was formed by seven shareholders in 2006. One of them contributed the land for the slaughterhouse, and the others contributed the operations with the Avicola Dragoş Vodă, Prima Nova and Avicola Ciocăneşti, all of which managing chicken farms.
After a "half exploited" year, during which it generated 11.4m-euro (47.9m RON) turnover, as the company opened its own slaughterhouse in May 2009, EuroAvi this year counts on almost triple turnover, of around 30m euros.
At present, the company is among the few groups of producers operating in line with Agriculture Ministry recommendations.
EuroAvi has this year doubled its number of employees, to over 200. The slaughterhouse processes the raw material delivered from the 13 farms of the partner companies, with production capacity revolving around 5,000 chickens per hour.
