Cosmote seeks to grow by cutting tariffs

Cosmote, no. 3 on the Romanian mobile telephony market, has relaunched its subscription offer by boosting the number of minutes and SMSes available within the network for new customers that sign two-year contracts.

New Cosmote customers who choose subscriptions of less than 8 euros (VAT not included) will receive double as many minutes and SMSes as normally included in the call plan and in extraoptions, for the first six months of the contract. For users who opt for a monthly subscription of at least 8 euros (VAT exclusive), Cosmote offers unlimited minutes and SMSes within the network for the first six months of the contract. Until August 31st 2010, the unlimited bonus and the offer that doubles minutes within the network can also be used for calls to Romtelecom's fixed telephony network.
Cosmote Romania recorded its first decline in the number of customers in the second quarter of this year since the company relaunched its operations in December 2005. The overall number of customers fell by almost 1% (67,000) against March.
