Romanians bought 70,000 PCs in Q2

Sales of PCs domestically rose by 34.8% in the second quarter, with the segment of desktops posting a 0.6% decline in terms of revenues, according to the data included in a survey by International Data Corporation (IDC) research company that ZF obtained. The same survey shows the market expanded by 26.8% in terms of sales.

Acer, the biggest PC producer in Romania, kept its leading position in terms of sold units, with a 19.8% market share, followed by Hewlett-Packard (HP), with 15.8%. The company sold around 20,000 PCs in the second quarter, according to Bogdan Iftemie, sales manager with Acer. He quoted IDC figures showing that the overall PC market stood at 72,000 units in April-June period, against 42,000 units a year ago.

Asus, ranking second on the PC market in 2009, held the third position in the second quarter of this year, with a 10.7% share in terms of sold units.

In terms of revenues, the ranking is led by HP (17.7%) and Acer (14.8%), followed by Dell, with a 14.7% share, and Asus, with 11.8%.
