The first three car part producers to become suppliers for Ford plant of Craiova have started construction works for the plants located close to Ford plant. Their announcement comes after the US carmaker unveiled its new plans for the Romanian plant, which, starting next year will manufacture the B-Max model, one year later than initially planned.

In the same field, a fourth producer is interested in investing on the former industrial site of ARO, in Campulung Muscel.

Starting 2011, there are high chances that we will see new investments by car part producers in Romania, according to Constantin Stroe, chairman of the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Romania (ACAROM).

Of the 10 car part producers to work in Craiova, Johnson Controls is the first company that has already started a recruitment programme. "(...) The value of investments in Romania will top 10m euros in the following years with a view to expanding production," say the company's representatives.

The second production unit belongs to Lear Corporation, a US firm specialising in cable and electrical system production.

The third supplier will set up shop in Bals, Olt county.
