Is a new Communications Minister needed?
Gabriel Sandu, an economist with experience in the furniture and
agriculture fields, whom the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L) in
December 2008 put in the position of minister in a entirely new
field, that of communications and information technology, is likely
to be one of the government members to be changed during this
month, according to several sources close to the ruling
party.
Are there reasons for replacing, or, on the contrary, maintaining
Gabriel Sandu in the current position? The opinions of politicians,
businesspeople and employers' associations differ when assessing
Sandu's activity.
People supporting Gabriel Sandu say a change would endanger
eRomânia project.
On the other hand, the idea of keeping Gabriel Sandu at the helm of
the Communications Ministry just to the end of not taking the
projects he started at the ministry from scratch with a different
minister does not seem a strong enough argument for other
businesspeople or politicians.
Gabriel Sandu stated at the beginning of this week that he would
explain to PD-L MPs asking for his resignation that "all the
objectives he assumed have been achieved".
