Dacia bets on expansion

Exports of the Dacia Mioveni plant will accelerate as of 2011, driven both by the current range, and by Complete Knock Down kits shipped to the other plants in Russia, Brazil, and India, where the Duster will be manufactured as of next year.
Starting in 2011 Dacia will start production of the right-hand drive Duster SUV, with the brand set to launch on the UK market in 2012. The expansion of the Dacia SUV in 2011 will, however, include not only the Russian and Brazilian markets, where it will be produced using CKD kits (unassembled parts) in Mioveni, but also India, where Renault produces the Logan model in partnership with Mahindra.
Last year Dacia's exports hit 2.1 billion euros, 270,0900 vehicles and 223,000 CKD kits sent to plants in Russia, Brazil, and Morocco.
At the Mioveni plant, Duster production rose from 260 units per day in April, one month ahead of the official launch, to over 450 units at present. In 2011, the SUV production will accelerate from 20 units per hour at the beginning of the summer to over 35.
