Murfatlar expects wine cellars to generate over 14m-euro sales in two years
Murfatlar wine producer, one of the main players in the industry, expects sales through its own cellars to reach over 14m euros over the next two years, more than half of current turnover.
The producer is the first in the wine industry to announce
aggressive retail expansion plans, as it wants to reach several
hundred wine cellars in two or three years, securing it national
coverage.
"The cellars will be all over the country. The first three are in
Bucharest and the fourth in Brăila. Sales can be double from one
location to another, depending on location," Daniel Negrescu, brand
manager with Murfatlar, told ZF in an interview.
Last year, the company generated turnover worth 119.76m RON (28.3m
euros), with 136m RON (32m euros) being budgeted for 2010.
Specialised wine retail is really poorly developed, with the main
stores, positioned, however, on the high price segment, being those
of Vinexpert. Last year, though, entrepreneur Tiberiu Duma opened
Patria Vinum network tackling the low and medium-price level.
