At a time when less and less money is allocated from the state budget to renovate schools, more than 100 schools, high schools and universities have won European projects to get 110 million euros from EU, which will be directed to building school workshops, renovating football fields and basketball courts, to the thermal insulation of schools, acquisition of new furniture, rehabilitation of university campuses, and construction of new schools or classrooms. The total value of the projects signed until August 13 amounts to 160 million euros.

County councils, town halls and universities, which are the beneficiaries of the programme, have more than 240 million euros in European funds available from 2007 through 2013 for projects to rehabilitate the educational infrastructure through the Regional Operational Programme, chapter 3.4.

No more applications may be submitted now, according to the representatives of the Ministry of Development and Tourism, which manage this programme, because the value of those already submitted exceeds the value of the funds allocated by at least 50%.
