Three Romanian castles attract fewer visitors than one German castle
Three of the best-known castles in Romania, Bran, Peleş, and Corvinilor in Hunedoara, drew in 314,000 visitors in the first eight months of this year, nearly three times fewer than one castle in Germany, i.e. Neuschwanstein (the castle of Ludwig II of Bavaria), according to a ZF analysis based on data sent by castle operators.
Moreover, the revenues collected by the three castles in Romania
amounted to around 1.7 million euros in the first eight months of
the year, whereas one German castle collected nearly 8 million
euros.
Although Peleş castle in Sinaia ranked sixth, above Neuschwanstein,
at number 8, in a top 15 of the most beautiful castles in the
world, put together by international travel website opentravel.com,
the number of visitors and revenues are a lot lower than those
reported by the Bavarian castle.
In January-August of this year, Peleş and Pelişor castles received
30% less tourists than in the similar period of last year.
