Unable to repay loans, 500,000 Romanians submit CVs for jobs abroad
More than 520,000 Romanians have submitted their CVs for jobs abroad since the beginning of the year and most of those who want to leave are already hired, apply for 10 to 20 jobs until they get an interview and want to work for foreigners because they are no longer able to repay their loans, reveal statistics centralised by Tjobs website, a working platform used by recruitment agencies in Romania.
Although half a million Romanians have applied for a job abroad,
only 86,000 have actually signed employment contracts from January
through September 2010.
"More than 450,000 of the Romanians that submitted their CVs had an
interview, either by going to the recruitment agency office, or
over the phone or via Skype. We anticipate an increase by up to
15-20% in the number of jobs abroad next year," says Călin
Ştefănescu, general manager of Tjobs.
About 230,000-240,000 contracts for employment abroad are to be
signed by the end of the year, some of them for farming or cruise
ship jobs, with people set to start leaving for work in February
2011.
