Server and computer demand in Romania went up in the third quarter particularly on companies' resumed orders, while consumers are still in expectation, states Tomasz Klekowski, a CEE manager with Intel, the world's biggest microprocessor producer.
"Starting the second quarter, sales to consumers have slowed down, while sales to companies have increased. In the third quarter, regional sales to companies continued to rise, on all the segments, from servers to notebooks and desktops," Klekowski also told ZF.
Intel manager explains, though, that the order rally in Romania comes after PC and server sales dropped by 50% last year. "In Romania, the situation is more complex because of the economic situation. Sales are better than in 2009, but I would be wary of saying there is a market boom in Romania. The figures are not at the 2008 level, yet".
In 2008, the best year for the domestic IT industry, Romanians bought over 1 million PCs and servers. In the first half of 2010, data point to a 34% market increase, according to IDC.
