Becali, Popoviciu or Ţiriac, a lot of foreign investors, as well as entrepreneurs who started doing business in other fields, such as Marius Ivan or Lorand Szarvadi, are part of the group of the biggest land owners in northern Bucharest, reads BUSINESS Construct magazine.

The major landowners in the northern area and in neighbouring regions hold over 1,000 hectares of land, the equivalent of a town such as Alexandria or two times the size of Urziceni.

George Becali further leads as the biggest owner in the northern area, controlling large areas both in Pipera-Voluntari, and in Otopeni and Balotesti. Becali's plans of building something on these plots have always been "thin".

Gabriel Popoviciu raised two office buildings, 221 apartments and the biggest commercial park in Romania. Plans for the Baneasa project are much bigger, though, as 100 hectares of land are still unexploited.

On the other hand, Ţiriac family has put part of plans for northern Bucharest on hold, carrying out only the club part of the Stejarii housing project of Baneasa.
