What you should have known at the start of the year to double your money on stock market
Those who bet on exporters and energy or utilities at the
beginning of the year made hefty profits in the first ten months.
Few would have bet, though, on real estate firms, which were among
RASDAQ performers.
One of the signals at the beginning of the year signals were the
statistical data on the exports pick-up (as soon as November 2009),
but few investors would have dared invest in stock of exporting
companies, most of them in the industry field, which reported some
of the steepest turnover declines for last year. Those who did,
counting on a faster recovery of Western developed economies
compared with the Romanian one, raked in considerable
profits.
The energy field, which ranked high in brokers' recommendations,
also brought big gains.
Some brokers at the start of the year also recommended financial or
food industry stocks, but these proved to be a poisoned apple for
investors.
Real estate companies traded on RASDAQ have been among this year's
few surprises, with increases of above 10%, despite the struggling
real estate sector.
