Google-rewarded software developers reach 10m euros
Romanian-German company iQuest, a producer of software for
companies, which also has a division of smartphone applications,
targets 330 employees by the end of the year, up 27% against 2009.
The company had 260 employees last year and around 70 more people
have been recruited in 2010.
"The IT sector continues to grow even in a difficult economic,
fiscal and legislative context. After a 5% decline in the number of
employees in 2009, this year we can talk about a rebound and even a
slight increase. Professional skills and experienced people
continue to be in great demand, only now they are harder to find,"
Marcel Anghel, iQuest's organisational development manager told ZF
Transilvania.
The company ended the first half of the year with a 5 million-euro
turnover, up 11% on the similar period of last year, especially
thanks to the new software solutions for the Romanian market.
For the second half of the year, iQuest targets a 15% turnover
growth compared with the first half of 2010, to around 5.7 million
euros. The company is headquartered in Germany and holds two
software development centres in Cluj-Napoca and Braşov.
iQuest stepped into the global spotlight in December 2009, after
Google rewarded TripJournal, an application for mobile phones
created by the Cluj company, which runs on Google's Android
operating system.
