Rohan, Carpatcement: Cement demand in Bucharest will come from infrastructure and homes

Cement demand in Bucharest is set to be fuelled in the coming years by infrastructure and housing projects, and to a lesser extent by investments in the construction of office spaces or shopping centres, stated Mihai Rohan, general manager of Carpatcement, during the Meet the CEO conference Business Magazin organised yesterday.

No construction works for large buildings will be started in Bucharest in the next five years, but only those whose construction has already started will be finalised, believes Rohan.
He also said Romania's cement market would not revert to the 2008 level, of around 12 million tonnes, any sooner than ten years from now. The 2008 level was similar to the one reached in 1987, viewed as one of the best years for Romania's cement production.
On the other hand, he considers one of Romania's features in time has been political indecision, showing that the country has not found its direction now, either.
