Belgium's Delhaize's pumped 38m euros in Mega Image stores
Delhaize Belgian group, which owns Mega Image stores, has added 38m euros to the capital of Romanian stores over the past six months, with capital injections being operated by a group subsidiary registered in the Netherlands.
"The money is being used for expansion," Delhaize group
representatives told ZF.
The capital increases were carried out in two stages, the first in
June, and then in December. Thus, in June the group increased the
share capital of Mega Image by 91.8m RON (21.1m euros) and toward
the yearend the shareholders brought another 64.5m RON (15.2m
euros) in Romania, according to the information published in the
Official Gazette.
Mega Image supermarket chain ranks second in Romania after Billa,
with turnover worth 612.3m RON (145m euros) last year and is also
the largest supermarket network in Bucharest. The company has
expanded aggressively this year.
The retailer chose not to disclose its plans for next year, saying
they would be made public in early 2011.
Last week, Mega Image took over two stores of PrimÄvara network
owned by businessman Ioan Avram, in a deal worth more than 1m
euros.
