Allianz: One client files 10m-RON auto liability claim
On the Romanian market there is a rising trend of personal
injury claims resulting from car accidents, which puts upward
pressure on the price of auto liability insurance, says Rangam Bir,
general manager of Allianz Ţiriac, the second-largest company on
the Romanian insurance market in terms of the volume of gross
premiums underwritten.
"We had several claims this year, but we have yet to settle them
because the cases are still in court. The biggest claim amounts to
10 million RON, and comes from the family of a car crash victim,"
Bir said.
Other companies have already paid tens or even hundreds of
thousands of euros for personal injury claims as a result of car
accidents. For instance Omniasig paid 1.34 billion RON (around
330,000 euros) this year to settle a claim.
As far as Allianz Ţiriac is concerned, Rangam Bir, 39, who took
over as general manager in May, says this year's main challenges
have been motivating employees and finding ways to lessen the
impact of the higher taxation and of the collapse of the car
market.
