Constanta, the city with the most tourists, braces for five malls
Constanta could become Romania's second busiest city on the
shopping segment after Suceava, with two new malls in the process
of being built - Maritimo and Cora -, which will bring investments
in the city's shopping centres and hypermarkets to nearly 500
million euros.
Constanta is one of the largest cities in Romania, with a
population of 305,000, wages above the national average (1,304 RON
net per month in the Constanta county in September), and an
unemployment rate of just 5.22%.
However, one of the strategic advantages over other cities as far
as attracting investments is concerned, has to do with the around
500,000 tourists that visit it every year, spending about four
nights in the city, as well as money.
In Constanta there are currently four operational malls, City Park
near Tabacariei park and TOM shopping gallery, located on Tomis
Boulevard. Apart from these projects, the city also has two Real
hypermarkets, one Kaufland hypermarket, as well as Metro &
Selgros-operated stores.
