Property Fund's austerity talk is just talk

Floatation documents have brought to the surface the record-high incomes that people at the helm of Fondul Proprietatea (Property Fund), collected, who, despite receiving Government backing, have endorsed premier Emil Boc's austerity measures only for the sake of appearance. ZF calculations show Ionuţ Popescu, former general manager, and Graţiela Iordache, former president, had received monthly pay of over 6,000 euros during their terms.

In 2009, Daniela Lulache, who was replaced from her position by Ionuţ Popescu, collected half a million euros from the Fund in the form of regular pay and compensation as a result of suspending her term as general manager.
In response to premier Emil Boc's message, who this spring asked the Government to cut salaries in state companies, Ionuţ Popescu, former advisor to the PM, asked for his pay as general manager to be cut from 13,000 euros net to around 1,200 euros, but the total pay, as results from the prospectus, amounts to the equivalent of 6,500 euros per month in the nine months.
