2011 economy outlook
The highlights of 2011 are the potential economic growth, the
budget austerity, the inauguration of the Basarab overpass and of
the Lia Manoliu stadium in Bucharest, as well as the potential
improvement of European fund absorption, especially in the HR
field.
The essential question is when will the economy start growing. Some
analysts say that it will happen towards the end of the year, while
the Forecasting Commission sees a better second quarter than last
year. Major wind farm projects are expected on the energy market,
the automotive market will be greatly influenced by whether Ford
eventually begins manufacturing in Craiova or not, while the
banking market will remain frozen. The essential question is
whether consumer spending rebounds or not, which accounts for three
quarters of Romania's GDP.
