Pharmaceutical market posts 17% growth
The Romanian pharmaceutical market posted a 16.9% growth in the first 11 months of 2010, to 9.3 billion RON (2.2 billion euros), according to data of IMS Health research company.
In terms of volume, the increase amounted to just 1.6%, which
indicates a rise in the weighted mean price. On the one hand, the
Health Ministry has approved an increase in the price of drugs by
around 6% and on the other hand, the share of expensive drugs
increased on the market, after producers focused on selling
higher-priced drugs.
December will most likely fail to influence the market
significantly, with 2010 figures in the drug industry to reveal an
around 17% increase. In fact, the market exceeded forecasts of the
main players, who were more pessimistic and expected an increase of
a maximum of 10% in value in RON and a decline in euros.
