Listing of Fondul Proprietatea is the chance for the Stock Exchange to be reborn
The top officials of the Romanian capital market present at ZF's
open editorial meeting ZF Expert said the listing of Fondul
Proprietatea (Property Fund) is an example that big things can
happen in Romania, as well.
The chairman of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, an official of
manager Franklin Templeton, the broker that promotes the Fund in
the biggest road show in Europe, as well as analysts and investment
managers were present yesterday at ZF's editorial meeting, and were
unanimous in saying that the listing of Fondul Proprietatea is "the
chance of a new beginning for the Bucharest Stock Exchange."
"A successful listing of the Fund on the Stock Exchange will be
indicated by parameters such as the volume of trading and
capitalisation, with expectations being high in these respects. I
think daily trading with Fondul Proprietatea shares can amount to
at least 3 million euros," said Stere Farmache, chairman of the
Bucharest Stock Exchange. In the past year, the daily average value
of share transactions has been 5 million euros.
The shares of Fondul Proprietatea are the most awaited shares on
the Bucharest Stock Exchange, considering that the listing allows
big investment funds access to the most valuable company in
Romania, as well as allowing former owners to receive their
compensation.
The chairman of BSE gave assurances that there would be no trading
problems if trading volumes were high in the first day, with the
trading platform being tested in the past few months.
