Passengers of Wizz Air and Blue Air low-cost airlines who want to ask for information or book plane tickets through the call centre must pay 2.68 RON (0.62 euros) per minute for a phone call from the country, three times more than when calling in another mobile telephony network, according to the data published on low-cost airlines' websites and with ZF calculations.
Moreover, for Romanians calling from Spain, for instance, the phone tariffs paid to low-cost airlines' call centre go as high as 1.54 euros per minute, according to Wizz Air website.
Who do airlines set the tax of phone calls received at call centres providing information to passengers?
"The call centre prices are set in accordance with the company's business principles. The tariff of calls to call centres can vary with each market, depending on the tariffs of mobile telephony operators and their infrastructures," stated Balazs Varro, corporate communications manager with Hungary's Wizz Air low-cost airline.
