Carrefour brings a Romanian entrepreneur to run the procurement department

Carrefour French retailer, with 1.13bn-euro turnover in 2010, has appointed a domestic entrepreneur, Vlad Ardeleanu, as head of procurement.

Ardelean in 2008 tried to set up a credit brokerage, Ipoteci Direct, which did not survive on the market, though.

This is a promotion for Ardeleanu, who had first taken over with Carrefour the position of managing director of the real estate unit, Carrefour Property.

Ardeleanu is also one of the founders of Artima supermarket chain. This is one of the few examples on the labour market where an entrepreneur takes over manager positions with a multinational, with most of the times the trend being the opposite one, with businesspeople leaving multinationals to launch their own businesses.

Ardeleanu was recruited by Carrefour as soon as its Ipoteci Direct business failed. He will replace Arnaud Dussaix, 37. Dussaix will remain in Romania, with Carrefour, and will fill the position of project manager and operating officer for a new format and commercial model, according to Andreea Mihai, Carrefour Romania's marketing manager. He did not provide any further details on this new project, though.
