Deutsche Telekom manager in charge of Romania resigns three years before term end
Guido Kerkhoff, Deutsche Telekom manager who had been in charge
with the CEE operations of Europe's biggest communications group
since 2009, has unexpectedly announced his decision to leave the
company three years before his term is due to end.
Kerkhoff has been closely involved in the coordination of
operations carried out in Romania, one of the biggest markets the
German group entered with the acquisition of a 30% stake in
OTE.
During meetings between DT management and investment banks'
analysts, Kerkhoff was the one to announce OTE's objectives in
Romania.
Kerkhoff is leaving at a time when Deutsche Telekom is due to make
a key decision as regards its involvement on the Romanian market.
Deutsche Telekom and OTE Greek group are due to tell the Romanian
government next month whether they plan to acquire the 46% stake
the Romanian state still holds in Romtelecom, which ranks first in
fixed telephony, second in fixed Internet and third on the TV
market in Romania.
