Bucharest's accommodation capacity could rise by nearly 290 rooms this year, i.e. by 2.5%, if hotels Europa Royale in the Unirii area, Marshal in Doboranţi, Carol I in Piaţa Rosetti and Premier Palace close to Ghencea stadium will open their doors to clients, as announced by investors.
The four hotels are developed by the Lithuanians at Europa Group, the Antonescu family and businessmen Teodor Meiţă and Marian Dumitru.
Their opening would amount to an estimated 28.3 million euros in overall investments on the Bucharest market in a year when accommodation demand is showing slight signs of a rebound after an over 30% decline two years ago. "Works are still under way inside the hotel (Marshall in Dorobanţi i.e.), that is why we will not be able to open it in spring. The hotel will most likely open in the summer," said Ana Maria Moanţă, marketing manager of Marshal Turism, held by the Antonescu family.
Works are also still under way at the Royale hotel in the Unirii area, in which the Lithuanians at Europa Group invested 11.5 million euros, with the opening previously announced for February of this year being put off. Another awaited hotel in Bucharest is Carol I in Piaţa Rosetti. The project was announced back in 2007 by Teodor Meiţă, owner of the McMonis restaurant in Bucharest.
