Ericsson reaches 1,200 employees in Romania after taking over 400 people from Romtelecom
Ericsson Telecommunications Romania, the domestic subsidiary of Sweden's provider of telecom equipment and services for fixed and mobile telephony, has come to an over 1,200-people headcount, after taking over 400 Romtelecom employees.
The network administration services agreement for the
outsourcing of some field operations signed with Romtelecom in 2009
brought the Swedish the biggest outsourcing contract on the
domestic communications market, valued at 10m euros, inked over a
five-year period.
Most Ericsson employees in Romania work in the services centre
opened in 2007, which is currently employing 800 people. The
company's representatives said they would hire further this year,
without specifying, though, the number of positions for which they
would recruit.
"We must be more competitive as regards salaries, which are
generally 'dictated' by the country. We set salaries depending on
what the other market players offer, but to be competitive we must
adjust them annually, to see where further investment is needed.
Raises are in line with average increases of Romania and inflation,
but we are also looking at employees' performance," said Maria
Rosaria Bonifacio, vice-president of the HR unit for Ericsson's
global services centres.
