Daniel Boaje, 40, was appointed general manager of McDonald's Romania fast-food restaurant chain, after Karen Bishop, who had filled this position since late 2009, was promoted to vice-president with McDonald's Canada.

Before this, Boaje had been the general manager of the biggest consumer lending company, Cetelem for over five years (April 2004-January 2010). He started his career with McDonald's in 1995, as a manager trainee. After leaving Cetelem, Boaje worked as an independent Internet business consultant for five months, then returned to McDonald's as a development and operations manager.

The major moves inside McDonald's started as early as September 2009, when Marian Alecu, former general manager of the company, which he had run for 12 years, decided to start his own business.

McDonald's, with 3,500 employees domestically, derived turnover ZF puts at 104.3m euros in 2009 and has a 63-restaurant network. On the fast-food market, valued at 1.5-2bn euros, KFC is McDonald's main rival.
